Wisconsin State TT Championships, New Glarus, WI, Sunday, September 17th. Hey Mark, Awesome job at the Fat Tire. I can imagine you might be a bit tired the next day.  Let's see, I was 2nd fastest time of the day (lost out to Nick Reistad, of Jelly Belly).  I raced 55-59 and won that, so I'm a State Champ.  I beat Dan C by 3 seconds (I convinced the holder to let go of me early and to hold Dan a little extra), which seemed fair since that's about the margin Dan beat me the weekend before.  Dan had the 3rd fastest time of the day...he couldn't be the State champ though, wrong State.  Lance handily won the Cat 4 State Champ jersey with the 5th fastest time of the day.  I think John Vansusteren (Mr. TT legend) was just a little faster.  You know Lance though; he's not going to be satisfied until he's the fastest guy out there.  Diane is also a State Champ, and had the 3rd fastest woman's time behind our friend, and Dan's wife, Linda, and Julie Foertsch, a former pro who is truly an amazing TT rider.  So, all-in-all, we did great. It was very windy.  The course was longer than advertised, and the hills were really tough.  We missed you being there, but a good time was had by all.  Next year they won't schedule it to conflict with the Fat Tire.  Gordy

Hi Mark, Congrats on your mt. bike adventure, nice work!  I believe your email was sent to 3 state champs.  You’re right, the air was warm and sunny but the wind was fierce.  The course started out into the wind, I held a little back figuring I’d need it for the critical section of rollers down county J and I’d make up the time there.  I made up most of it, but the tailwind was so strong on the return I found myself spinning out more than I had anticipated.  In the end it was a good performance, but it could have been better.  The course was about 1.5 miles long, so everyone’s times are slow.  Nick Reistad (Jelly Belly) won with a 01:00:59, I think Gordy & Dan came in at +0:36, I came in at + 02:13.  My 01:03:12 was easily fast enough to best the cat 3/4/5 field, so I guess I get a champ jersey!  I wish the road season wasn’t over, this is fun.  Lance
