South Wood County YMCA Triathlon 2006

South Wood County YMCA Triathlon- Wisconsin Rapids Saturday, June 24^th 2006 (Sprint Distance)

We really lucked out with the weather. Thunderstorms were threatening the area early morning, but close to race time it cleared up and was perfect! The lake temperature was a “tropical” 74 degrees. Wow! Several BBS team members participated. On the men’s side Brett Whyte finished 11^th over-all (1:12:09) and Chris Hutchinson 22^nd over-all (1:14:17). I had a pretty decent race as I placed first for women(18^th over-all) 1:13:43 I was second place the past two years for women. Chris Davis (twin sister) placed 3^rd amongst the women. (27^th over-all) 1:16:14 Brett’s wife Linda competed as well….her first triathlon! Way to go! There were about 200 competitors in the race and about 20 teams. They had a record turnout in their 12^th year of hosting the triathlon. It is a nice, well run race. The lake is clean, the bike course is flat and fast, and the run is mainly on a soft trail and is partially shaded. Sounds inviting, doesn’t it? Thank you, Lynn Laux
