Sunday May 28, 2005. South Range Wisconsin. (as told by Max Rhyner) I raced the B race in which was a banner day for racing with sunny skies and the temperature around 80 degrees at the start. The race was 53 miles in a lap format (3). The race started off pretty slow with speeds around 22 miles an hour. Everyone stayed together for half of the first lap when I decided to launch an attack. I asked a few guys if anyone wanted to go but everyone seemed like they wanted to have a nice easy day in the saddle. My first attack was short lived as a bunch of guys from Loon state lead the chase after me. I ensued with an attack every 2-3 miles or so after that with little success. About 2 laps in I launched another attack with 3-4 guys in tow and after about 5 miles of being off the front I heard one of the guys behind me say that we had a gap. I flicked my arm to for the next guy to pull through but there was very little cooperation. About 20 riders caught back on. I decided at that point it was going to come down to a sprint at the end. Unfortunately I didn't make it that far to contest my first sprint of the year. Half way through the last lap my front tire decided that it didn't want to hold air any more and I flatted (found a piece of metal in my Veloflex Pave tire). If it was any consolation I had a fun day in the saddle being an antagonist.
