Rib Falls TT - (as told by Max Rhyner) Wind! Wind! Wind! The Saturday TT in Rib Falls gave Gary, Andy and Max certainly a challenge from the start. The wind never seemed to let up throughout the day and actually intensified latter in event. It seems to be the formula for this springs events. The TT started at 11:00 with Gary leaving the start ramp at I believe 11:14 with Andy leaving slightly before him. Gary and I ran rear disc wheels and Andy ran a pair of HED Tri-Spokes on his new Orbea. Gary and I debated after the event if a rear disc helped us or hindered us. (Due to 30 mph Crosswinds and gusts upwards of 40mph!) None the less we all enjoyed the pain of what a 25 mile TT in Hills can offer. Andy remarked after the race that he was so scared on the 35-40 mph descents that it forced him to get out of the aero bars and hang on to the cowbells because the wind was blowing him all over. "I would agree because I touched the gravel once too". Although the conditions were less than ideal all three of us posted very respectable times (Bravo, Bravo, Bravo) After the race we were treated to some of my wife’s (Lori) famous hot beef sandwiches. After talking about the race over some excellent food it was time to say good bye to another year of the Rib Falls TT. Until next time…Max.
