Circuit of Sauk #2 As told by Trent...Team Brone's consisted of Chris, Garrett, and myself and was mine and Garrett's first race as cat 3s. The race started super fast with the speed hovering around 27-32mph, and was really inconsistent. Chris made the comment that at the rate we would need new brake pads by the time the race was over. The pack stayed together into the first climb. Up the climb I covered the front just in case anyone tried to attack off the top. When we hit the top nobody attacked at I was funneled into the middle of the peleton. Probably about a mile later there was an attack and a group of ten broke away. A person from every team was in the break except for our team. At this time we started to get hit by a nasty crosswind that was shredding people off the back of the group. I thought I was safely in the middle but before long I found myself hanging on for dear life at the back of the pack, which was down to no more than 30 riders. Before the second climb there were a few attempts by people to bridge the gap with a small group but none of them were able to get away. Up the second climb I just didn't have the legs to stay with the group and got shot out the back and just ahead of me I saw Garrett get shot out as well. I gave it all that I had the next few miles to get back on but it just never happened so I rode the remaining to laps by myself. Garrett managed to chase back on to the group just before the first climb of the second lap only to get dropped once again up the climb. Chris drove the pace of group for the rest of the race and finished 13th I think. Garret finished around 20th and I finished around 23rd out of 24 finishers.
